Today is the first day that Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 9/11 is available on VHS and DVD. Non of the local Boston TV or Radio stations mentioned it this morning.
This documentary might have some influence over the November presidential election. However, I would think that the VP debate tonight will have more influence over some undecided voters. December 18, 2003
Last night I was fortunate and had the opportunity to see Lord of the Ring: Return of the King on opening night.
We saw the 8:40pm show at Solomon Pond Mall and it was a full house. The line for the show started before 8pm, since we arrived shortly after 8 and was the last in line before they started to let people in. We still had great seats and since it was stadium seating, there wasn't a problem with seeing the whole screen.
Overall I thought it was a great movie! It seemed to start really slow, but once the action started it was really fun to watch. I would highly recommend watching this movie on the big screen and not see it for the first time on DVD. There was a hint at the end that there maybe future Lord of the Rings movies.
Who knows, will this be another Star Wars movie, where another series comes out 10 years later. November 26, 2003
I saw the Haunted Mansion Movie tonight and thought it was a pretty good movie. I am a little suprise that the movie got a PG rating, since there were a couple of scary scenes. You have to love the first three words of the movie!
I did notice three haunted mansion icons that were not shown in the movie:
- The Stretching Room Gallery
- The Caretaker with the dog outside the cemetary
- Little Leota (Who encorages guests to come back)
Other than that its definitely a movie worth seeing. The theater wasn't crouded since it was the day before Thanksgiving and I saw the 9:40pm showing. Which was intentional since there would be fewer children and its always best to visit the Haunted Mansion at night.
As for the sound track, you only here some of the music. Probably not worth buying the album. November 25, 2003
I have played the Haunted Mansion sountrack on my commute home last night and this morning and found it to be a pretty good album. The only songs that I liked is 'Man With The Hex' by the Atomic Fireballs and 'Somebody's Watching Me' by Morris Day. The only stupid song is the 24 seconds 'So Long' song by the Singing Busts. I guess that the 'So Long' song occurs at the end of the movie or at the end of the credits.
This is the fifth movie soundtrack that I have purchased, the other soundtracks in my collection:
- Dirty Dancing
- Good Morning Vietnam
- Man on the Moon
- Back to the Future II
The only reason why I bought the 'Man on the Moon' soundtrack was because that was the only way to get REM 'Man on the Moon' song. It appears that a lot of people did this since you can now buy a used copy on Amazon for only $1.69. The shipping cost exceeds the value of the CD! November 24, 2003
Breaking News: I just purchase the Haunted Mansion CD at Walmart in Chelmsford Massachusetts this morning. The CD isn't suppose to come out till tomorrow!
Walmart is selling the CD for $14.88, cheaper than Amazon and no shipping costs! So not only does Walmart get you the CD earlier it also is cheaper! (Yes, you still have to pay the 5% sales tax)
I just encoded it to my iPod, which is almost two years old, so I'll be able to hear the entire CD on my commute home. November 20, 2003
Next week the Haunted Mansion Movie will hit the theaters. Based on the previews it looks like Disney did a good job with this movie. I am not sure if Walt Disney would have wanted all the major rides turn into movies.
I already bought a The Haunted Mansion: From the Magic Kingdom to the Movies book which details the special effects used at the attraction and the movie. I highly recommend it! Disney will also be releasing a Haunted Mansion Soundtrack next week too, hopefully it will be available on iTunes. I would recommend buying the offical Haunted Mansion sountrack at the Theme Parks, as it contains the complete ride soundtrack.
