Red Sox Truck Day

Red Sox fans are getting very excited for the 2014 season! Fresh off their World Series win, there has been a lot of excitement going on around the city. The Red Sox store has been busy stocking up on new merchandise. Around town, you can find plenty of stores still selling and promoting Red Sox items.

Prior to the excitement of Spring Training, is Truck day at Fenway Park. The truck leaves in 15 days!

The Boston Globe says, "Truck Day has become New England's annual sign that spring is right around the corner. It is the day when the Red Sox' moving van gets loaded with equipment at Fenway Park for the 1,480-mile trek to JetBlue Park, the team's spring training complex in Fort Myers, Fla."

I added a counter to the homepage and posting a daily countdown to truck day. After truck day, I'll countdown to opening day.

Cowboy Up

Found this in my new Western Styles Magazine.

What does it mean "to cowboy up "?
That's easy to explain,
As every rodeo cowboy knows, it means
To hell with the mud, the blood, and the rain.
There's a job to do, so just get to it,
And to hell with the heat, the fear, and the pain.
Forget the sleep you missed last night,
Or the entry fee you lost last week.
There's another rodeo down the road,
And a pinch between your gum and cheek.
You're drinking lukewarn coffee from a paper cup. Yuck!
That's what it means "To Cowboy Up !"

Spring Training 2010

If your into the Spring Training spirit, you should pick up some Mickey's FreshRoasted Peanuts. That's the brand of peanuts that they serve at Spring Training. Well, that's what they have at City of Palms Park (Red Sox Spring Training Stadium) and at  Lee County Sports Complex (Minnesota Twins Spring Training Stadium)

Note: The 4oz bag that they serve at Ballparks have 640 calories. That's 160 calories per person and the bag serves 4, but seriously are 3 people going to eat out of 4oz bag?

Don't expect to find Fenway Franks at the City of Palms Park. Dietz & Watson is theOfficial Frank of the City of Palms Park.

Boston Red Sox

The Boston Red Sox just lost six in a row including four against the Yankees. Will they come back to be contenders in October?

Keep in mind that is its still early August and there is plenty of time to get the team together to make a run for the playoffs. This is not the time to panic.

Ridiculous Red Sox Factoid

According to the Red Sox Fact of the Day calendar:

Japanese people that are born between April 2, 1980 and April 1, 1981 (Japan's 1980 Fiscal year) are referred to as the "Matsuzaka Generation." Daisuke Matsuzaka was born September 13, 1980.

Here's the latest quote from Daisuke Matsuzaka from the Associated Press:

"If I keep going like this, I have no right to be a part of this rotation"

Matsuzaka was recently diagnosed with a mild right shoulder strain. (June 21, 2009) You can follow the latest Daisuke Matsuzaka news on Google news.

Ted Winters

Yesterday, the Boston Red Sox Page Calender had this Red Sox Trivia:

Williams College has produced some big names in baseball, including former MLB Commissioner FayVincent and Yankee Owner GeorgeSteinbrenner. What original Red Sox player attended Williams College?

Answer:

Ted Winters, "ThePitching Professor"

Not sure if that's a misprint, I wasn't able to find any TedWinters on Google. Ted Williams went to Amherst College.

Red Sox Season 2008

The 2008 Red Sox season has begin! As you can tell from the above AP story, Manny Ramirez wanted to make sure that this is another wonderful year for the Boston Red Sox. He had a terrific off-season workout and the word on the street, from City of Palms Park, is that he is in great shape this year! He spent much of the Winter in Arizona working out.

We are looking forward to watching the Boston Red Sox become the first team since the 2000 New York Yankees to win back to back champions. I heard on ESPN radio that the Yankees will be AL Champions. However, I don't think this will be the case since Joe Torre is not the manager this year.

One good thing about the start of baseball season is a sure sign that Spring is here. Its been a long winter in New England. We got a lot more snow this year than we have gotten in the past few years.

Patriots Loose!

So the Patriots didn?t end the season with a perfect record. It was quite a run! I think its been a long time since New England got this disapointed. I can think of two other events:

  • Red Sox - 1986 World Series, Game 6.
  • Patriots - 1986 SuperBowl against the Chicago Bears.

New England teams have come back strong from these defeats. Patriots fans don?t worry! The 2008 season starts in 6 months.

Yes the Dolphin fans can go back and celebrate being the only team, in the modern era, to be SuperBowl champions with an undefeated season. Congratulations!

The SuperBowl was a great game to watch and it all came down to a couple of minutes in the 4th quarter. The ratings are in and its one of the most watched SuperBowls in history. Lots of drama throughout the game.

New England fans can now focus on the red hot Celtics and start thinking about the Boston Red Sox as Pitchers and Catchers report in a few weeks. There?s no question, when it comes to major league sports, New England is the place to be.

Champions still play in Foxboro, Fenway Park and the Boston Garden.
