Good Guys to close stores Stand-alone outlets in California and Hawaii to get the ax Thursday, October 6, 2005 CompUSA is closing its Good Guys stores in California and Hawaii, including 14 stores in the Bay Area, because of waning demand for stand-alone stores that sell high-end home entertainment products. "As high-end home entertainment products become more prevalent in other stores, the need for those stand-alones are declining," said Katie Means, spokeswoman for privately held CompUSA, which is based in Dallas.
