CD and DVD Archiving
If you do any type of computer data backup to CDs or DVDs, you should read the NIST Digital Media Group: docs/disccare. They have some great advice on how to make sure your CDs last a long time. For example, did you know that you should be using an adhesive label on your disk. (Not sure what Avery or Meritline would have to say about that.)
If anyone knows about maintaining technology for the long run, it's the National Institute of Standards and Technology. The NIST is an agency of the U.S. Department of Commerce.
